As of January 1, 1998, the Division implemented the Sex Offender Community Notification program. On July 01, 2001, the initial registration duties were transferred to local law enforcement. Accordingly, all convicted sex offenders who are present in Nevada for more than 48 hours are required to register with local law enforcement to establish a fingerprint based record. Nevada is in full compliance with the Federal mandates and guidelines set forth in Megan's Law and the Jacob Wetterling Act.
